The organisation sensitises women employees to take care of their health

Secunderabad: The South Central Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (SCRWWO) conducted an awareness programme on 'Health and Hygiene for Women,' to promote healthy living, at Secunderabad Railway Station on Saturday. SCRWWO president Jayanthi Mallya was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme saw the presence of a gathering of over 100 women contract employees undertaking various jobs at the station.

Stressing on the important role that women play for the entire family, Jayanthi Mallya said, "Without the presence of a woman, life becomes a big vacuum as everyone in the family depends on the woman member for their needs.

In such circumstances where women sacrifice all their energy for the sake of the family, how much time they take for their own health and happiness is a big question. This is the reason that over 51% of women in India suffer from anaemia due to lack of blood and malnutrition due to insufficient intake of food."

Mallya suggested that women should take out time to maintain their health, towards which adequate care should be taken and women should take a balanced and nutritious diet so that they do not pick up any disease.

Dr Nirmala spoke on various health issues relating to women, so as to make the gathering aware of their self priorities. She also answered the queries from participants. Minal Phadke, Secretary, and other executive members of SCRWWO distributed health kits to the women employees.

The awareness programme would also be conducted on October 21 & 23 at Kacheguda and Hyderabad railway stations, respectively, to benefit the women contract employees working at the stations.
