As part of its special drive to do away with 750 dilapidated buildings/repair/seize them before the ensuing monsoon, the GHMC Town Planning department officials on Tuesday demolished 11 identified structures, while seizing one house with a view to ensuring protection of residents.
Kukaktpally: As part of its special drive to do away with 750 dilapidated buildings/repair/seize them before the ensuing monsoon, the GHMC Town Planning department officials on Tuesday demolished 11 identified structures, while seizing one house with a view to ensuring protection of residents. The officials had also issued notices to the owners of the dilapidated buildings/houses asking them to take up total repairs.
The department had identified the structures which are facing threat of collapse during the monsoon after taking the views of the engineering wing about their safety/stability. It has taken up a plan of action to pull down 'most dangerous' buildings. In the case of those owners refusing to vacant such premises the department is taking up counseling. It is also putting up barricades around most dangerous structures so as to prevent access to people.
As part of action on unauthorised constructions, GHMC has taken up demolition of unauthorized constructions wherein unauthorised extra floors and constructions in the Stilt Floor parking area are being demolished. As part of monsoon preparedness action plan, action on dilapidated structures is being taken up. Further, removal of encroachments on footpath/ road margins is also taken up.
The Town Planning officials are also warning residents staying close to such buildings on the verge of collapse to take precautions in view of threat to their lives in the event of crash.A press release issued by GHMC stated that 382 buildings have been demolished during the period January 2019 to June 11. It listed the year-wise demolitions/seizures as follows: 2018—182/26, 2017—199/15.
According to the release, 382 unauthorised structures in 129 areas were pulled down so far this year. It said in 2018 as many as 554 illegal constructions were demolished, including those on footpaths. In 2017, over 370 unauthorised premises on roads in 227 areas were done away with.
On Tuesday, 10 dilapidated structures were demolished and one dilapidated structure is seized. Encroachments all along the Krishnakanth Park boundary, Yousufguda, were removed. The GHMC demolished an unauthorized construction at plot 1-92/15 in Sy. No:43,44&47 of Guttala Begumpet near Durgam Cheruvu. An unauthorized construction at H.No.2-54/A, PJR Nagar, Kondapur, was razed.
The staff also took up demolition of Nala encroachment at PJR Nagar, Gachibowli. Dilapidated building at H. No.7-14 at R.C. Puram, Patancheru, was pulled down. Another unauthorized construction of 4th floor at HIG 40, Road No.2, Kphb Colony, was demolished on Tuesday. The GHMC squads also demolished a dilapidated house at Ward - 121, H.No.4-71, Baghameeri, Kukatpally.
