Hyderabad: Telangana Minorities Residential Educational, Secretary B Shafiullah stated that a large number of applications for admissions has prompted the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS) to conduct an entrance examination this year.
As against the 14,640 vacancies in the 5th Class, 40,483 students are enrolled and 27,093 students appeared for the entrance test conducted on April 20, seeking a seat in Class 5 across 204 schools. Last year, the admissions were done through a lottery system but this time, it was through an entrance examination.
TMREIS Vice Chairman and President AK Khan visited one of the examinations centres at TMR School Sanath Nagar Boys 1, Dharam Karam Road. Later, he interacted with the students as well as parents. He said that elaborate arrangements were made for conducting entrance examinations for admissions into Class V across the state.
There is a huge response from parents seeking admissions into TMR Schools every year. The Society has decided to screen applicants through an entrance test and based on the merit, students will be given admission, he added. 75 per cent seats were reserved for minorities and 25 per cent for non-minorities.
