Abids: United Muslim Forum (UMF) demanded the State government that issue strict instructions to the police and the intelligence departments to avert and make sure that mob lynching and hate crimes are controlled.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Syed Akbar Nizamuddin Hussain Saberi, the vice-president of United Muslims Forum (UMF), said that religious festivals should not trigger any kind of violence and should be celebrated amid peace and harmony. He expressed concern that the incidents of hate crimes on the basis of religious identity were on the rise in the country and mob lynching was destroying secular fabric of our country.

"Stringent laws must be enacted by the state and central governments to ensure protection of life and property of citizens of our beloved country. Supreme Court has issued directives last year to curb the mob lynching and strong steps should be taken to implement the court directions. In Jharkhand a Muslim youth Shams Tabriz Ansari was brutally murder by a mob. The United Muslim forum demands Rs 1 crore compensation to his family and also provide government job and housing facility," he said.

Members of UMF also said that during the process of road-widening or land acquisitions for government projects, the government was ignoring the sentiments of Muslim community and demolition of mosques was taking place. The Wakf Board has failed to Act on time to protect Wakf properties and institutions. UMF demanded re-construction of Masjid-e-Ek Khana in Amberpet and other masjids which were demolished other places in the state.

It is learned that honorarium of Imams and Moazzans of Masjid was not provided on monthly basis. There were many dues and salaries should be released with immediate effect, they noted.

UMF president Maulana Raheemuddin Ansari, vice-presidents Syed Mohammed Qubool Badesha Shuttari, Mir Qutubuddin Ali Chisti, Mohammed Ziauddin Nayyar, Syed Muneeruddin Ahmed Muqtar, general secretary Syed Muneeruddin Ahmed Muqtar and other members of forum were present.
