Wakf activists call for CBI probe into NOC case
Alleging the involvement of higher officials of TS Wakf Board, the Wakf activists have demanded the government to order a CBI inquiry in the ‘case of NOC,’ which had recently rocked the Wakf Board and scores of other cases that were kept aloof from public scrutiny for over a decade.
Hyderabad: Alleging the involvement of higher officials of TS Wakf Board, the Wakf activists have demanded the government to order a CBI inquiry in the 'case of NOC,' which had recently rocked the Wakf Board and scores of other cases that were kept aloof from public scrutiny for over a decade.
Speaking to The Hans India, president at Wakf Properties Protection Cell Nayeemullah Shareef said that besides the recent case of NOC, where alleged forgery of a higher official on 'No Object Certificate' prompted loss of the valuable land of Dargah Hussain Shah Wali (Shaikpet), there were numerous other cases where hundreds of crores of rupees worth of Wakf land was lost. Putting the onus directly on the higher officials, he wondered if all these proceedings happened without their knowledge.
"I strongly believe that the documents were not forged. The top official of the Board had actually issued NOC affecting certain land of Dargah Hussain Shah Wali. When a newspaper exposed the development, he claimed that his signature was forged," he alleged.
The President of All India Sunni Ulama Board Moulana Syed Hamid Hussain Shuttari said he believes that if the CBI probe was ordered, it would open Pandora's Box and numerous cases involving loss of prime Wakf land to encroachers over a decade would be exposed.
"The Home Minister has given his statement showing his dissatisfaction with the on-going investigation and hinted to refer the matter to task force or CBI. The Wakf Board also wrote to government to conduct probe through CBI," he noted.
Nayeemullah said that a CBI inquiry would uncover a number of cases that have not been exposed till now and enquiry through CBI would expose the truth and help recover prime Wakf lands of Malkajgiri, Maheshwaram, Moula Ali, Gutala Begumpet, Manikonda and other locations. "The CEOs of the Wakf Board in violation of law to please their political bosses destroyed the Wakf institution," he lamented.
The activists who are in a mood to up their ante have demanded that the CBI must probe the involvement of higher officials in the cases starting from 2006, when Shaik Madar was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Wakf Board. It is alleged that leaving a few officials, most of those who held the position should be questioned by the CBI, as mismanagement touched its new high as officials on deputation held high responsibilities in Wakf office.
It may be mentioned here that in February, following the unfolding of events related to NOC case, Shahnawaz Qasim, the current CEO, lodged a complaint at Abids Police Station. Following the investigation the police arrested four persons, including former CEO, working as law officer. But the activists strongly believe that those who were arrested were made scapegoats in the case.
