ACB traps AE of Yellandu Municipality

Yellandu (Kothagudem): An In-charge Assistant Engineer of Yellandu Municipality, M Babu, was caught red-handed by the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau while accepting bribe from a contractor on Friday.

According to ACB DSP A Madhusudan, a contractor, M Suresh, executed works worth Rs 15.88 lakh in Ward number 14 of Yellandu Municipality and his first bill of Rs 14.15 lakh was cleared. However, the accused has demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe from the contractor for clearing pending bills and to return the security deposit of Rs 70,000.

The complainant then approached the ACB who laid a trap and caught Babu while accepting the money from Suresh. The accused was arrested and would be produced before the ACB court in Hyderabad, the DSP said.
