Khammam: Street vendors and farmers are thanking District Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, who allotted Rs five crore funds to setup modern markets in Khammam town.
The street vendors were facing problems in selling fruits, vegetables and other items in Khammam town. While farmers were also facing troubles in selling their produce in the nearby villages. Responding to the appeals of street vendors and farmers, Minister P Ajay Kumar planned to construct modern market in the town with all facilities and spent nearly Rs five crore funds for the construction. Separate sheds for vegetables, meat, fish, fruits, groceries and other items were set up with all facilities. Not only this, a new bus stand was also established for the convenience of venders and farmers.
The officials have allowed the vendors to sell their products in the new market on Thursday. The vendors were happy and conveyed special thanks to Minister Ajay Kumar and District Collector RV Karnan for constructing modern market with all facilities.
A vegetable vendor K Venkat Rao, speaking to The Hans India, expressed happy for setting up the modern market. He said from today onwards, there will be no problems from police and municipal staff, adding that they have been facing many problems from them since many years, as they have no proper platform to sell the products.
A farmer Kannaiah said now there is no transport problem as the market was set up near bus stop and provided all facilities in the market.
District Collector RV Kanran informed that shops were allotted to all the vendors and separate sheds for vegetable, fruits and meat were setup in the modern market premises. Sanitation works are going on in the market, he added.
