Tirupati: BJP leaders strongly condemned the ‘attack’ on the agitating sarpanches in Amravati and warned that the ruling party will pay a heavy price for repression unleashed on its opponents.

Speaking to media person here on Tuesday, BJP state spokesperson G Bhanu Prakash Reddy and general secretary S Muni Subramanyam said the attack on sarpanches, who were peacefully protesting in Amaravathi against the government diverting the panchayat fund, reveals the ruling party’s intolerance of any dissent.

Stating that the Ramarajya was prevailing in the country except in Andhra Pradesh, they said here we are witnessing Ravana Rajya.

Accusing Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of becoming a despot, they warn that he will face a doom if he continues repressive measures and trampling on democratic rights.

In this connection, they said whatever development was happening in the state was only because of Central government providing funds.

They said that villages were suffering with no development activities due to the AP government diverting the funds sent to panchayats.
