The district has 34.12 lakh voters. According to officials, nearly 30,000 applications are pending with the Election Commission under new voters’ allotment system. The Election Commission is yet to declare the new applications whether they are eligible to vote or not.

Vijayawada: The district has 34.12 lakh voters. According to officials, nearly 30,000 applications are pending with the Election Commission under new voters' allotment system. The Election Commission is yet to declare the new applications whether they are eligible to vote or not.

Meanwhile, the district administration made all arrangements in 3,968 polling stations in the district. The Election Commission already posted six special officers at all polling stations. Besides, 16 Returning Officers have been appointed for all the 16 Assembly constituencies in the district. Krishna district collector is the Returning Officer for Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat and Joint Collector would act as RO for Vijayawada Parliamentary segment.

Apart from this, 320 sector officers have been nominated and district administration applied to the Ministry of Home Affairs for magisterial powers to them. Krishna District Collector A Md Imtiaz and Superintendent of Police Sarvasresta Tripathi also reviewed security plan for smoothly conduct of elections.

The SP asked the public to upload the details in the Election Commission App, if anything wrong happens anywhere in the district. He also requested the people and parties to cooperate with the district administration in conducting the elections peacefully.
