Vijayawada: Two arrested, 1 tonne ganja seized

Vijayawada: Vijayawada Task Force police arrested two persons and seized 500 packets of ganja worth Rs 70 lakh near Ramavarappadu ring on Saturday. According to Task force police, the team obstructed a Tata vehicle near the Ramavarappadu junction and searched it.
The police have noticed that 500 packets of ganja with each packet weighing 2 kg was being transported in a truck from Agency area of Visakhapatnam to Zaheerabad near Hyderabad. The police arrested two persons Battula Sainath of Jeedimetla, Hyderabad and Kadiyam Venkata Ramana of Ravikamatam area, Visakhpatnam district.
The ganja packets were kept under the cazorina logs. The task force team under the guidance of Commissioner of Police B Srinivasulu and supervision of ADCP K V Srinivasa Rao conducted the search operation. ACPs GV Ramana Murthy, VSN Varma and others participated in the search operation.
In another incident, police arrested six persons and seized two packets of ganja weighing 180 kg and 80 kg from two cars in Jaggaiahpet mandal on Saturday. The accused are below 22 years of age. The six-member gang was transporting ganja in two cars, which was noticed by the police in Jaggaiahpet mandal.
The police chased the gang and nabbed them. Additional SP Vakul Jindal said the enforcement team conducted the raid on a tip off on transportation of ganja.
