Visakhapatnam: Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam is commencing a 41-day-long 'Narasimha or Chandana deeksha' conferment for the devotees.

With an objective to propagate the Hindu Dharma and significance of the temple, the 41-day-long mandala deeksha similar to 'Ayyappa Swamy deeksha' is observed by scores of devotees for many years. Chandana deeksha has been popular in North Andhra in the past 10 years.

Initially, devotees from rural areas of Visakhapatnam observed deeksha for 41 days. Gradually, many started following suit across North Andhra.

The temple priests announced recently that the deeksha will commence from November 28 during 'Dhanurmasam' and conclude on January 8, 2021.

According to Executive Officer of the Devasthanam V Thrinadh Rao, deeksha will be observed by the devotees following Covid-19 protocols.

However, many expressed concerns whether the deeksha will continue this year or not due to Covid-19. Finally, they heaved a sigh of relief when the temple authorities announced the date for the same.
