Visakhapatnam: Five militia members surrender before police
With this the number of militia members from Chintapalli sub-division who have surrendered to the police during this month has gone up to 13
Visakhapatnam: Five Maoist militia members of G K Veedhi surrendered before Chintapalli ASP Vidhyasagar Naidu here on Saturday.
The surrendered militia members have been identified as M Matsya Raju (26), K Sanyasi Rao (40), K Hari (35), M Bhagat Ram (25) and K Poornachandar (26).
With this, the surrendered count reached 13 for the month of November in Chintapalli sub-division.
Speaking to the media, the ASP said militia members surrendered due to the continuous efforts made by Visakhapatnam district police under the leadership of SP B Krishna Rao through various community policing programmes such as Prerana, Sankalpam and health camps.
Further, Vidhyasagar said the arrest of ACM Gemmelli Kamesh @ Kukumpudi Hari and several other hardcore militia members during the last five months served as a warning to the Maoist supporters in the area.
Assistant Commandant of CRPF, GK Veedhi, Devendra Naidu, Assistant Commandant of CRPF, Sileru, M L Naidu and CI GK Veedhi Muralidhar were present.
