Warangal: With the elections to the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) are around the corner, the Congress is in a huddle to prepare its cadres for the showdown. The Congress Bhavan was abuzz with all its senior leaders on Thursday with the TPCC Working President Jetti Kusum Kumar holding a meeting that focused on polls to the GWMC, which are due early next year. Kumar along with the DCC President Naini Rajender Reddy discussed about the measures to be taken before the elections to the GWMC.

The leaders discussed constituting Division and Booth Level Committees in the GWMC limits as early as possible and thereby to prepare the cadres for the elections.

Later speaking to media persons, Kumar said that efforts are on to constitute Division and Booth Level Committees in the GWMC limits and thereby to prepare the cadres for the GWMC elections. "Special committees such as campaign and media so that to focus on elections will also be constituted," Kumar said. He expressed confidence that the Congress has a better chance of clinching the Mayor post.

Stating that there wasn't much difference between the TRS, BJP and the MIM, Kumar said that these three parties have an understanding at Delhi level, but on the surface, they look like archrivals in the State.

Referring to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, he expressed confidence that Congress will fare better than other parties. "Although the BJP had inducted national-level leaders for the campaigning in the GHMC elections, it wasn't going to benefit from it," Kumar said.

He said that people are aware of the failures of the TRS government and teach Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son KT Rama Rao a fitting lesson. "The TRS government, which offered Rs 10,000 relief to all flood-affected residents, has neglected the people in Warangal, who also suffered due to floods in August," the TPCC Working President said.

Accusing the government of making hollow promises, he demanded the ruling party to declare a white paper on the Rs 25 crore sanctioned for the Warangal after floods. The government, which also promised Rs 300 crore special development funds for Warangal and second road over bridge (RoB) near Kazipet needs to talk about them, he demanded. It's been decades since the last Master Plan came into existence, however, the government has turned a blind eye in rolling out a new plan, he said.

TPCC general secretary Syed Azmathulla Hussaini, former legislator Konda Muralidhar Rao, former MP S Rajaiah, Namindla Srinivas, Dommati Sammaiah, Meesala Prakash, Dr Puli Anil Kumar, Bathini Srinivas and Kothapally Srinivas were among others present.
