Warangal: Total Medical Bandh to be held today

Warangal: Opposing the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)'s move which allows the legal practice of surgeries by the Ayurveda practitioners, the Indian Medical Association, Warangal Chapter will observe a total medical bandh on Friday (December 11).
Speaking to media persons, here, on Thursday, IMA Warangal President Dr P Sudhir Kumar said that all doctors practicing modern medicine were to observe complete closure of private practice including out-patient (OP), consultation and elective surgeries on Friday, in protest against the CCIM's notification which authorises post-graduate practitioners in specified streams of Ayurveda to be trained to perform general surgical procedures.
"The CCIM's move should be seen as another step in advancing and legitimising mixopathy. It could lead to chaos besides endangering the lives of people," said Dr Sudhir, defending their opposition to mixopathy.
Covid-19 and other emergency cases have been exempted from the bandh, he said. The bandh will be observed from 6 am to 6 pm. The doctors will stage a demonstration at IMA Hall near MGM Hospital from 10 am to 6 pm.
IMA-Warangal, General Secretary Dr B Prabhakar, Treasurer Dr B Raja Mohan, Zone-3 State Vice-president Dr Sudeep, zone-3 State vice-president (elect) Dr N Surender Reddy, vice-presidents Dr Pilli Rajani, Dr P Manmohan Raju, Dr Yadagiri Reddy, Joint Secretaries Dr A Jyothi, Dr Bingi Srinivas and Dr PSS Mallikarjun were among others present.
