Father kills his daughter for having affair with neighbour in Firozabad

Agra: The news of honour killing has created a flutter in Uttar Pradesh. In the incident, a father has brutally killed his young daughter for having a relationship with the neighbour's son. The incident happened in Salempur Khutiana village under Jasrana police station limits of Firozabad.

Going into details, the accused Harivansh Kumar has five children, the youngest of them is Pooja Singh (22) pursing post-graduation and she fell in love with Gajendra who lives in the neighbourhood. Although Gajendra belongs to the same cast, however, Kumar didn't like Pooja having an affair with him, and he repeatedly warned her to keep distance with the boy.

In this context, Kumar becomes very anger on seeing Pooja talking to Gajendra on the last Saturday. He dragged his daughter into the house, electrocuted her and then slit her throat with a knife.

At the time of the incident, there were no other family members present in the home. With this, Pooja suffered server blood loss and died on the spot. After some time, the deceased mother and brother who returned house were shocked to see the horrifying incident.

On receiving the information from Pooja's elder brother Yogesh, Firozabad police reached the spot and arrested the accused. The police said that Kumar had confessed his crime. Later, they shifted the dead body to the hospital for post-mortem. Recently, the incidents of honour killing are on the rise in UP. In the last 18 months, 23 cases (including Pooja's) have been recorded in western Utter Pradesh.
