Nearly 1500 women blocked the road in Jaffrabad of northeast Delhi protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Holding the placards, the women also backed the Bhim Army chief Chandrasekhar Azad's call to hold nationwide strike today.

On Saturday night, around 200 women staged a sit-in protest near the Jaffrabad metro station. carrying the national flags raising slogans 'Azaadi (freedom)' and 'Jai Bhim' amid heavy police presence. As that crowd swelled with the women and children joining the protest near the station, the authorities closed the station temporarily since morning.

The Delhi Metro Rail announced it on its official Twitter handle which said that the entry and exit of Jaffrabad have been closed and the trains will not be halting at the station.

Efforts are on to disperse the women protestors and clear the road. The police are holding discussions with the protestors and trying to pacify them to clear the road. This is the latest protest by the women staged at Jaffrabad after Shaeen bagh.
