30 men raped minor girl for two years in Kerala, father, other two held

Malappuram: In an incident, 30 men have allegedly raped a 12-year-old minor girl over two years. This incident happened at Malappuram district in Kerala, where the officials have shifted the girl to a shelter home on Saturday.

The matter came into light when the class VII studying girl has attended a counselling session at her school. The counsellor who the girl confided was shocked that the child has suffered so much pain for the sake of the family.

The girl started to cry when asked what was going on at home. She said that her family was in urgent need of money and they hadn't even paid the house rent.

The girl told the counsellor that she was first raped by her father's friend who gave the money to her family and later there were many others. It's said that the unemployed father first forced the mother into prostitution.

SI Noushad Ibrahim of Tirurangadi police station said the minor's statement was recorded before a magistrate on Sunday and sent for the medical examination, which confirmed rape.

With this, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act, 354 and 376 Sections of IPC and arrested three people, including the girl's father on Sunday and sent to judicial custody. The search is carried out to trace the remaining accused. However, the girl's mother has denied charges against the family. She says this is a conspiracy and demands to give her daughter back.
