New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told media persons after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah that the Central government had assured him of making every effort to maintain peace in the national capital. Kejriwal told the media that the Union Home Minister said that necessary police force would be made available and that peace should be the highest priority regardless of party affiliations.

The Delhi Chief Minister informed media persons that representatives of all political parties were present at the meeting apart from him and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal. The Delhi chief Minister once again appealed to all citizens to ensure that peace prevails in the national capital.

Arvind Kejriwal pointed out that one policeman lost his life, as also six other civilians. He appealed to the citizens to maintain peace and harmony saying that nothing would come of violence and that all the injured, as also those who lost their lives were citizens of Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal hoped that as promised by the Home Minister, peace would prevail in Delhi soon. Earlier, he told press men that he was informed by AAP MLAs that policemen at the lower level were not given the required nod for firing in the air or caning the protesters as required.

However, following the meeting with the Union Home Minister, the necessary assurances have been given and he was hopeful of peace prevailing in Delhi.
