New Delhi: 15 of the 21 Italian tourists detained on arrival into India, tested positive for novel coronavirus (Covid-19). With this, the total number of positive cases of Covid-19 in India has now touched 18.

The samples of 15 of the 21 tourists who landed from Italy tested positive and all of them have been shifted to an isolation facility built by the ITBP at Manesar. The novel Coronavirus has infected more than 90,000 people globally and has claimed at least 3000 lives.

The countries most affected by it or China, South Korea, Iran and Italy, with several other countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal and Vietnam is South-east Asia reporting instances. The US has reported seven deaths from the deadly disease. Italy battled its worst health crisis in years as Pope Francis tested positive for novel coronavirus.

In the UK 12 more people tested positive in the taking the total number of positive cases to 51. The UK army has been kept on standby as the virus spread through the country.

More than 70 nations are now facing the COVID-19 challenge. Meanwhile, Argentina has confirmed its first case.

The DGCA has ordered all flights to be disinfected.

Precautions suggested by medical experts:

• Wash your hands for 20 seconds with a soap as frequently as necessary.

• Use disinfectants to clean frequently touched surfaces.

• Cover your mouth/nose with a tissue or elbow, while coughing or sneezing.

• Use the traditional form of greeting Namaste instead of a handshake in the present circumstances.

• Consult a doctor if you have fever, flu-like symptoms and difficulty in breathing.
