Coronavirus Update: India COVID-19 Tally Goes Past 2,50,000 Mark
The coronavirus pandemic count in the country has crossed the 2,50,000 mark with the overall tally now rising to 2,56,611 and 7,135 deaths, as per the Monday morning update put out by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. India is now the fifth worst-affected country in the world overtaking Spain.

There are 1,25,381 active cases across the states, while 1,24,094 people have been cured or discharged. These are the ten states recording the highest numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country:
Maharashtra now has a higher caseload than China as per official statistics. The state's COVID-19 tally has now climbed to 85,975 going past China's overall tally of 84,191. Maharashtra's death count has crossed 3,000 climbing to 3,060.
Tamil Nadu continues to be among the worst-hit states in terms of COVID-19 infections. The overall tally in the state has now reached 31,667. Tamil Nadu has reported fewer deaths compared to states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi and Rajasthan. The death count in the state stands at 269
Delhi is experiencing a sharp spike in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in recent days, with the total count in the national capital now touching 27,654 cases. The Delhi death count stands at 761.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gujarat has now reached 20,070 with the death count mounting to 1,249.
Rajasthan's tally has now climbed to 10,599 confirmed coronavirus patients with 240 deaths.
Uttar Pradesh has recorded 10,536 COVID-19 cases and 275 deaths. The worrying factor about UP is said to be the spread of the pandemic to rural parts of the state.
Madhya Pradesh has reported 9,401 confirmed COVID-19 cases with a high mortality rate of 412 deaths.
West Bengal has so far reported 8,187 cases of coronavirus with 396 deaths.
Karnataka has reported 5,452 cases of COVID-19 with 61 deaths .
Bihar has seen a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases with the tally crossing the 5,000 mark in the state. The total count in Bihar has now jumped to 5,088 with 30 deaths.
