Lucknow: As migrant workers began to return to their home state, the COVID-19 infection spread to 74 out of 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh, media reports said. Chandauli is the only district, which is coronavirus free as of now, media reports said.

Uttar Pradesh has so far reported 3573 cases of Coronavirus positive patients and has recorded 80 deaths. With 1758 patients having recovered from the deadly virus, the recovery rate in the state has been reported at 49.2%.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had appointed special officers for Agra, Kanpur and Meerut to monitor the COVID-19 situation and submit daily reports.

Districts in UP which were earlier declared coronavirus free are now coming in the grip of the deadly pandemic. Two such districts, Ambedkar Nagar and Ballia, also reported COVID-19 positive cases on Monday. Hardoi and Lakhimpur Kheri are also two such districts which were free of the virus and have now reported COVID-19 positive cases once again, media sources said.

There are active cases of COVID-19 in 67 districts of UP, while seven districts are on the cusp of becoming coronavirus free. These are Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Kaushambi, Mao, Ayodhya, Mahoba and Lalitpur.

Uttar Pradesh has tested 1,35,760 people so far out of which the reports of 1,31,293 samples have returned negative. The reports of 894 samples are awaited.

Lucknow continues to be a hotspot in the state and has reported 262 coronavirus positive cases so far. On Monday, in the Qaiserbagh Sabzi Mandi area, five people tested positive for coronavirus, among them, four men and one woman. All of them have been admitted to an isolation ward in the Lokbandhu Hospital here.
