Shah's visit comes amid the uncertainty and tension in the valley ahead of Independence Day celebrations, with regional parties seeking clarification from the Center on developments in the state.
Although the Center has not made a direct statement so far, all eyes are turning to the Home Minister's visit following the massive deployment of troops in the valley.
While an additional 10,000 troops were sent to Jammu and Kashmir last week, a person familiar with the situation said: The security situation must be contained. If an order is received, the troops will be moved to the specified areas by air and road convoys ".
