Ahmedabad: Prime Modi began his address at the 'Namaste Trump' event on Monday, at a packed Motera stadium by recalling that history was made five months ago in the United States at the 'Howdy Modi' event. History is being made today at the 'Namaste Trump', PM Modi said.

PM Modi described the US a close friend of India and added that friendship was built on trust. He pointed out that President Trump came directly to Ahmedabad, went to Gandhiji's Sabarmati Ashram and joined the waiting crowds for the 'Namaste Trump' event. He welcomed President Trump to the largest democracy in the world. PM Modi said that the whole of India welcomed the US President to 'Namaste Trump' event though it is taking place in Gujarat.

PM Modi pointed out that the diversity of Indian culture was showcased along with the roadshow to Motera stadium. India has a closer relationship than before with the US, he pointed out. In Sanskrit, in saying 'Namaste' one bows to the divinity in the other individual.

PM Modi told President Trump that the world's oldest planned city was located in Gujarat and also referred to Lothal ruins. PM Modi pointed out that India is home to several languages, cuisines, communities and social groups, PM Modi added, pointing to its rich diversity.

Unity of diversity in India is one of the binding strands of the Indo-US ties. PM Modi referred to shared values and ideals which bring US and India together. They share a common spirit of enterprise and innovation, hopes and aspirations, he said.

PM Modi complimented President Donald Trump's efforts to fulfil the American dream for millions of Americans. He complimented First Lady Melania Trump for her efforts in helping deprived children. PM Modi also welcomed Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner.
