New Delhi: Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh accused China of brazenly and illegally trying to claim parts of Indian territory such as the Galwan Valley and the Pangong Tso lake by committing multiple incursions beginning April this year till date. Dr Singh paid tributes to the ultimate act of sacrifice bravery and duty to the country on the part of 20 brave soldiers in the Galwan Valley of Eastern Ladakh on June 15.

The former prime minister further said that the sacrifice of the bravehearts cannot be allowed to be in vain. Dr Manmohan Singh observed that India stands at historic crossroads and that the government's decisions and actions will have serious bearings on how future generations perceive us. Significantly, Dr Singh's statement adds that the Prime Minister must always be mindful of the implications of his words and declarations on the nation's security as also strategic and territorial interests.

Dr Singh further said that India cannot and will not be cowed down by threats and intimidation nor will it allow any compromise with its territorial integrity. He cautioned the Prime Minister against allowing the Chinese to use his words as a vindication of their position. He added that all organs of the government should work together to tackle this crisis and prevent it from escalating further.

Dr Singh remarked that this is a moment where the country needs to stand together as a nation and be united in its response to this brazen threat. His statement further said that the government needs to be reminded that disinformation is no substitute for diplomacy or decisive leadership.
