Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Saturday dedicated two important projects to the people of Gurugram costing Rs. 141 crores.
The new projects include the newly constructed flyover at Basai Chowk and Mahavir Chowk underpass near the main bus stand.
Addressing a gathering the Chief Minister said that a new chapter has been added to the journey that started eight years back to make Gurugram a developed city. With these new projects, people will get relief from traffic jams.
The villagers also honoured Gurugram MLA, Sh. Sudhir Singla, Badshahpur MLA who is also the Chairman, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation Limited, Sh. Rakesh Daultabad and Chief Executive Officer, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal.
Referring to the development of Gurugram done during the tenure of the present government, Manohar Lal said that with the inauguration of two big projects, Gurugram has taken another giant leap forward in terms of development.
He said that the development of Gurugram has gained momentum with the formation of GMDA.
Manohar Lal while mentioning the road, Infrastructure and metro expansion projects said that the project for laying a metro line from the HUDA City Centre metro station to Gurugram, connecting the Palam Vihar area up to Dwarka Sector-21, has been approved. He said that when the central government had implemented the smart city plan, Gurugram was not included in it because we aim to make Gurugram the smartest city not just only smart. For Smart City, the Central Government allocates an amount of Rs. 500 crores, whereas in Gurugram, projects worth Rs. 1000 crores have been completed and work is going on on many projects, added the Chief Minister.
Referring to the major projects being implemented through GMDA, the Chief Minister said that the construction of multi-speciality Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital in Gurugram with a capacity of 650 beds is in progress. The hospital will be built in Sector 102 at a cost of about Rs 542 crore.
Referring to the matter of temporarily setting up a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and a processing unit on 5 acres of land near the village Basai, the Chief Minister clarified that this arrangement is purely temporary and apart from dumping the waste on this site, its processing will be done. Cleaning of this area will be ensured simultaneously, said Manohar Lal.
On the objections raised by the villagers on this, the Chief Minister gave the responsibility of finding 10 acres of land to the villagers and said that the Government will shift this MRF and management unit on the land suggested by the villagers.
Meanwhile, Badshahpur MLA, Sh. Rakesh Daulatabad suggested an alternative piece of land to the Chief Minister, responding to this, the Chief Minister said that once the survey of the land suggested by the MLA, is done, this MRF and processing unit will be shifted there. He said that he would visit the site in the next week or 10 days.
