Howz the josh? Says twitter on the D-day of the 2019 elections.
It's a fact that social media had a huge role to play in this election and revolutionized the way they are held. India can be safely called a digital democracy.
It's a fact that social media had a huge role to play in this election and revolutionized the way they are held. India can be safely called a digital democracy.
The number of people tweeting or posting about the election on social media and the related discussions has had a tremendous impact on the perception of politics, understanding the candidates, and shaping our opinions.
There are of course the buzzwords such as Pappu, chowkidhar and the chaiwala tweets for entertainment.
The Chaiwala in 2014 turned into Chowkidhar in 2019 but Pappu remained as Pappu since inception.
The power of social media has driven political parties and candidates to structure and strategize their communication to influence voters. The counting of half a billion ballots begins today but there seems to be no surprise element in deciding the fate of 800 candidates across 542 seats.
There were lakhs of social media posts and tweets that discussed and forecasted the results of the polls days before the election result day.
India has won! भारत की विजय। अच्छे दिन आने वाले हैं।
