Reports suggest that BJP candidate accused TMC workers of attacking him in the presence of police authorities.
The fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 commenced at 7 am this morning. BJP candidate from Barrackpore constituency in West Bengal said was attacked by workers from Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The BJP candidate had got into a fight with state police personnel but placed the blame on TMC workers in the presence of the police authorities."I was attacked by TMC goons who have been brought from outside. Those people were scaring away our voters. I am injured," he stated.
BJP is hoping to eat into TMC's vote share in West Bengal, and the situation between the parties seems tense.
