The day is meant to pay homage to the Freedom fighters who lost their lives for the independence India. It is a known fact that Nathuram Godse assassinated Gandhi on January 30, 1948, for the Partition of the country.

Going by the life of our father of the nation, born as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on October 2, 1869, in Gujarat's Porbandar, Gandhi pursued his higher education in England.
