A medium-intensity earthquake shook Delhi- NCR and northern India on Tuesday as an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Ritcher Scale was reported close to the India - Pakistan border.

There were no reports of any damage to property or casualties in the quake that occurred at 4:30 P.M

While the IMD said the quake measured about 6.3 the United States Geological Survey pegged it at 6.1.

The epicentre of the quake was recorded as about 125 kilometres from Jammu at a depth of 40 km. There were no reports of life or property in the quake.

Tremors were felt for 8-10 seconds in Delhi-NCR, Kashmir, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and other parts of northern India. Across the border in Pakistan, shocks were felt in Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar, along with other cities.
