A school located in NOIDA in the National Capital Region has been shut down on Tuesday, amid fears of Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. A patient infected with the virus from Delhi is reported to be a parent of a student of the school. Media reports stated that the Delhi patient attended a birthday party.

A team of UP health officials went to the school which is under the COVID-19 scanner. The authorities are gearing up for screening and testing of all those who attended the birthday party.

The school in question is said to be putting out a circular and have for now, allowed the students to go home. Further updates on when the school is likely to reopen are awaited.

Three fresh cases of Novel Coronavirus have been reported in the country including one from Delhi, a techie who travelled from Dubai to Bengaluru and then to Hyderabad in a bus was identified as the second case, while an Italian tourist in Jaipur has also been quarantined after testing positive for COVID-19.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan told the media that visas to China and Iran have been suspended. Screening is being conducted at 21 airports in the country, he said. The Health Minister also observed that screening is also being done along the borders of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. He said the Health Ministry had advised people to put off non-essential travel to Italy, Korea and other countries, where cases of COVID-19 have been reported.

Over 50 countries the world over have been affected by the Novel Coronavirus with China from where it broke out, topping these nations followed by Korea. Several European countries have been affected with Italy reporting the highest number of cases.
