Advancing Excellence in Rehabilitation Therapy

Priti Nathani shared insights on her personalised approach to physical therapy, emphasising patient-centered care, neurological rehabilitation, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. She also discussed her adaptability during the COVID-19 pandemic and her commitment to expanding rehabilitation access for underserved communities
Priti Nathani is a seasoned Senior Physical Therapist based in Austin, Texas, who brings over a decade of hands-on experience and a deep passion for patient care to her practice. Holding a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and currently pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Montana, Priti blends solid academic knowledge with real-world expertise to create personalised rehabilitation plans that truly make a difference.
Her approach to physical therapy is rooted in the belief that every patient’s journey is unique. “I start by really listening to my patients and thoroughly assessing their strength, range of motion, balance, and functional abilities,” she explains. This detailed evaluation allows her to tailor treatment plans to individual needs, considering their home environment, support systems, and personal recovery goals. This focus on personalisation has helped many regain independence and improve mobility in sustainable ways.
Neurological rehabilitation stands out as one of the most challenging areas of her work, yet Priti thrives in these complex cases. She emphasises the importance of building strong rapport and setting achievable interim goals to keep patients motivated. “Incorporating what matters to them personally into therapy makes the process meaningful and engaging,” she notes. This holistic focus not only targets physical impairments but also addresses psychological barriers, enhancing overall recovery.
Interdisciplinary collaboration is central to Priti’s practice. She sees herself as a vital part of a broader healthcare team, maintaining open communication with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and others to ensure coordinated care. “Effective teamwork ensures continuity and better outcomes, especially for complex rehabilitation cases,” she shares.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought unforeseen challenges, but Priti quickly adapted by implementing enhanced safety protocols and modifying therapeutic techniques for post-COVID recovery. “Patients faced respiratory issues, fatigue, and anxiety, so I had to rethink traditional methods to meet these unique needs,” she says. Her flexibility and innovation during this time underscore her dedication to patient-centered care.
Education plays a critical role in her therapy. She devotes time to clearly explaining conditions, demonstrating body mechanics, and teaching home exercise programs. “Turning patients into active participants in their recovery significantly boosts adherence and long-term success,” she affirms.
Looking ahead, Priti plans to specialise further in neurological rehabilitation and expand access to quality care for underserved communities. Her pro bono work reflects this commitment. “I want to develop community-based programs and mentor new therapists, making rehabilitation accessible and effective for everyone,” she says.
Recognised for her excellence and dedication, Priti has logged over 20,000 hours of one-on-one therapy and received numerous accolades. Fluent in English, Hindi, Marathi, and conversational Medical Spanish, she remains committed to professional growth and meaningful impact in physical therapy.
