New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for an all-party meeting scheduled to be held on Friday at 5 pm. Prime Minister Modi's invitation for an all-party meeting comes in the wake of Chinese aggression in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Office posted a tweet on Wednesday stating that an all-party meeting would take place on Friday. The PMO also said that presidents of all political parties would take part in the meeting.

20 Indian soldiers were martyred in a fierce clash with Chinese troops during the process of disengagement on Monday night in the Galwan Valley. Media reports stated that there were casualties on the Chinese side as well. While the Commanding Officer on the Indian side in the Galwan Valley during the process of disengagement Col. B. Santhosh Babu was martyred in the attack by Chinese soldiers, the news agency ANI reported that the Chinese Commanding Officer was also killed.

The Congress, Shiv Sena and other opposition parties have been demanding a reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the hostilities which claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers. Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Wednesday, questioning the Prime Minister's silence and wondered why the prime minister was hiding.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commented on the incident stating that the development was a disturbing one. The Defence Minister tweeted to say that the nation would never forget their sacrifice and that the nation stands shoulder-to-shoulder by them in this hour of sacrifice.
