Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan to discuss the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. During their conversation, PM Modi expressed his concerns regarding terrorism, violence, and the loss of civilian lives in the region. Both leaders shared their perspectives on recent developments in West Asia and emphasized the importance of united efforts to promptly address the security and humanitarian situation.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote, "Spoke with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. Exchanged views on the developments in the West Asia region. We share concerns regarding terrorism, violence, and loss of civilian lives. Concerted efforts are needed for an early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation."
This discussion between PM Modi and King Abdullah II is significant as it aligns with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. On October 7, Hamas launched an attack on Israel, resulting in the loss of more than 1,400 lives and the taking of over 200 hostages. This marked one of the deadliest incidents in a single day in the 75-year history of the state of Israel.
In response to these attacks, Israel declared a full-scale war against Hamas-launched strikes. Over the course of two weeks of continuous strikes, at least 5,087 Palestinians, including 2,055 children, tragically lost their lives.
Furthermore, India demonstrated its support by sending humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine. This aid included medical supplies and disaster relief material. An Indian Air Force C-17 flight carried nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for the people of Palestine. The medical supplies encompassed essential life-saving medicines and protective and surgical items aimed at addressing emergency medical conditions. This reflects India's commitment to providing assistance during the ongoing crisis in the region.
