Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a video conference with chief ministers of various states as also Union Territories on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a video conference with chief ministers of various states as also Union Territories on Tuesday. With the coronavirus pandemic count in the country going past 3,40,000 cases over the last 24 hours and the death toll approaching 10,000, PM Modi is set to discuss the way forward with chief ministers.

PM Modi, in the first round, is likely to have a video interaction with chief ministers and lieutenant governors, as also administrators of 21 states and Union Territories on Tuesday. Among them are Kerala, Goa, Punjab, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand. The Prime Minister will also interact with chief ministers of North-eastern states and some union territories in today's conference.

Prime Minister Modi's virtual interaction comes as the number of coronavirus cases in the country has been going up steadily.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to interact with chief ministers and the Lieutenant- Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Among the states which are slotted for Wednesday are those with a high viral load. These include Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Karnataka.

PM Modi's virtual conferences scheduled for today and tomorrow will constitute the sixth and seventh interactions between the Prime Minister and chief ministers of states on the coronavirus situation in the country.

PM Modi's two-day video-interaction is likely to focus primarily on the coronavirus crisis in the country with some states having a high caseload. Maharashtra has been seeing an upward curve in the number of COVID-19 cases with the pandemic showing no signs of abating. The state's tally has crossed the 1,10,000 mark constituting close to a third of the countrywide viral load.
