New Delhi: BJP Rajya Sabha member Y S Chowdary here on Tuesday criticised the Andhra Pradesh government for its lackadaisical approach towards the development of the state and for not approaching the Centre "in an appropriate manner" for getting the promises made during bifurcation implemented.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Chowdary said it was appalling that the state government had adopted a casual manner and dashing off letters seeking assistance or funds inappropriately.

"There is a way one should do it. A government has to quote relevant sections and clauses and various schemes, etc., to secure funds from the Centre. Similarly, on the pending bifurcation issues too, one has to be systematic in seeking implementation.

If the same attitude continues, the state will suffer irreversible damage," he added. Hitting out at the TDP too, he said both the TDP and YSRCP were on the same page as far as the neglect of state's interest.

"Whatever might have been his compulsions, Chandrababu Naidu could not render justice to AP. He might have worked hard personally, but he did not do the necessary things. Similarly, the YSRCP government is also neglecting the state.

Be it in Polavaram case or in case of capital city Amaravati. The state government has not provided the information sought by the Polavaram Project Authority so far for speeding up the works.

Similarly, in case of the PPAs in power sector, there is little that the state could do once an MoU is signed with any company. The decision (to scrap) PPAs will only see the exit of international players from the field," he said.

It would be possible for the Centre to help AP if it seriously took its job. He also criticised the manner in which the AP chief secretary L V Subramanyam was transferred to an insignificant post.

He said the Centre was not blind to all these things and was watching the situation carefully. Chowdary said as far as the BJP was concerned, both the TDP and the YSRCP were its rivals.
