Swedish Royal Couple's simplicity in Delhi wins over Indians
The King Carl though being a Royal, ditched the VIP culture and carried his briefcase along with a file all by himself, from the airport to his car.
NEW DELHI: For a five-day visit to the country, during the early hours of the morning today, the Royal Swedish couple King Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus and Queen Silvia Renate Sommerlath, had arrived at the New Delhi airport and was received by Member of Parliament Babul Supriyo.
Meetings for the Royal couple, have been accommodated with the President Ram Nath Kovind and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The internet went viral instantly, over the pictures of King Carl and Queen Silvia which were posted by the Twitter handle of Air India.
They travelled to India in the national air carrier Air India AI168 from Stockholm. The reason for them to travel through this means was because the King and Queen prefer to carry their own handbags which received surprised reactions from the Twitterati by winning their hearts. The sheer act of humility by the Royals was even more surprising.
King Carl though being a Royal, ditched the VIP culture and carried his briefcase along with a file all by himself, from the airport to his car.
This gesture made by the Royals was expressed to be quite inspirational on Twitter, as one of its users wrote, "Very very inspirational and humbling to see the King and Queen of Sweden carry their own bags on board."
In Rajghat, at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial, after their arrival, the King and Queen had laid a wreath. The Royal Couple have visited the country for the third time. Earlier they visited in the years 1993 and 2005.
