Union Budget 2020: Rahul Gandhi Terms It All Talk, No Action

Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi compared the Union Budget 2020 to the Modi government and termed it "all talk and no action." In a brief interaction with the media, the Congress leader remarked that Nirmala Sitharaman, in her long presentation, had not addressed the issue of unemployment.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar remarked that while the budget focused on agriculture warehousing, it lacked the required vision and clarity to double farmers' income.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the budget was disappointing. It benefited no one—be it businessmen, unemployed youth, farmers, workers or the poorer sections of society.

Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, took a dig at the Finance Minister saying her "speech was as long as T-20, but less entertaining."

West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) supremo, Mamata Banerjee posted a tweet remarking that she was "shocked and appalled to see how the Central government plans to ambush the heritage and legacy of public institutions." The TMC chief was referring to the government's plan to privatise railways in part, sell Air India and raise funds through LIC IPO.

NCP leader and Lok Sabha MP from Baramati, Supriya Sule, was disappointed that the automobile sector had been ignored. The unemployment issue also had not been addressed, she said.
