Unnao Rape Case: Police seeks death sentence for accused
Politicians of India have started to speak after Unnao Rape survivor's demise as police seeks death sentence for accused.
Uttar Pradesh: Just a day after the accused in Hyderabad rape and murder case have been killed by the police in an act of self defense, the politicians of the country have started to speak yet again, after the demise of the survivor in 2018 Unnao rape case.
The leaders have now started to send out condolence messages to the family and condemn the government for its inaction. It is to be noted that the family stated on record - no protection was given to the survivor or the family despite receiving death threats from the accused's relatives.
Police has added section 302 (death) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after the death of the Unnao rape victim. Adding Section 302 will help police in seeking death sentence against the accused.
"Culprits will not be spared", said UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. CM Yogi Adityanath stated a fast track court will be set up to deliver speedy justice to the criminals.
Reacting to the turn of events, politicians of the country seem to have woken up and started a series of tweets on yet another gory rape case of this country.
NCP's Supriya Sule took to Twitter to write: "Another innnocent life lost to rape. Extremely Saddened to hear about the demise of the Unnao Rape Victim. My heartfelt condolences. May she rest in Peace. We need to ensure she gets justice as well as all other rape victims...enough is enough...."
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said there's a need to create a fear of the law so that incidents like the Unnao rape don't happen again.
"My deepest condolences to the family of Unnao rape victim. The victim's death has exposed the double standards of highly stratified Indian patriarchal society. Investigation should be free from any influence or prejudice & justice should be ensured.#UnnaoCase" tweeted Siddaramaiah.
"We have failed yet again #unnaokibeti" said MP and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir.
Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is sitting on a dharna outside the UP Assembly in Lucknow.
