Farrukhabad: The police commandos have shot dead the captor who invited 23 children for a birthday party and later kept them under hostage for nine hours in Farrukhabad of Uttar Pradesh.

After the rescue of 23 children, the angry villagers thrashed the accused wife to death by hitting her with bricks and stones when she tried to escape from the village.

The accused Subhash Batham has invited the local children for his daughter's birthday celebrations. With this, 23 children came to his house on Thursday afternoon, where he took them into hostage.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and initiated the rescue operation to bring out the children safely. In this action, the accused attacked the police by throwing a country-made bomb and opened fire several times, where three policemen and a civilian sustained injuries.

In this nine hours rescue operation, finally, the NSG (National Security Guard) team shot dead the captor and safely rescued all 23 children at the mid-night around 1:30 am.

The villagers who were angry over the incident attacked the accused's wife and thrashed her to death by hitting with stones. By the time the police arrived at the scene, she was found lying on the ground in critical condition. Immediately, they rushed her to the hospital where she died.
