Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's video message appealing to him to allow buses arranged by the Congress for transporting migrants, into the state. Priyanka Vadra requested the chief minister to allow the Congress to help the migrants.

Yogi Adityanath responded by saying that the Uttar Pradesh administration would grant due permission to any party willing to transport migrants if it gave requisite information with necessary details with regard to the migrants as also buses, to the state government. The UP chief minister is said to have added that the state government would welcome such help from any party.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister condemned the 'cheap politics' being indulged in by the Congress party in the name of migrants at a time of a crisis like the coronavirus pandemic. The chief minister is reported to have said that the UP government is committed to the safe and dignified return of migrant labourers who wish to come back to their home state.

The Congress had earlier offered to pay the train fare of migrant workers and has now reportedly come forward to arrange 1000 buses for migrant workers to Uttar Pradesh and has sought permission from the state government. Hundreds of buses from Congress-ruled Rajasthan were said to have been brought to the UP border.

The Yogi Adityanath administration has arranged the return of more than 14 lakh migrants from various states. The state government has deployed more than 12,000 buses and 200 buses in districts to transport migrant workers to their home towns across the state.
