Viral fevers are raging in rural and urban areas in Amaravati for last ten days. More than ten people have died of viral illness in the district. People of Muppalla Mandal in Amaravati are suffering from the viral fevers and few dengue cases are also noticed.

However, government doctors say there are no dengue deaths anywhere in the district. Unofficially, people who recently died of viral fever are suspected of having died of dengue. With the dengue fear, the people are going after private hospitals while the doctors are making money out of people's fear.

Rudrabati Satyanarayana (75), Kalagotla Narayanamma (45), Rajarapu Peraamma (65), Meeda Naveenkumar (5), Neelam Kottayya (70), Kota Kashyamma (40) and Mocherla Madhu (6) died of viral fevers. It is suspected that most of them died of dengue. According to the statistics of doctors from January to date, more than five thousand people have been treated. Off which 500 were diagnosed with dengue.
