Hapur: Shivangi Goyal, a resident of Pilkhuwa, Hapur, has brought laurels not only to her family but to the entire district by securing the 177th rank in UPSC. But her journey to success has been very difficult.

Shivangi is married and also has a daughter. Fed up with the harassment by her in-laws, she started living with her parents.

Her divorce case is also going on with her husband, according to India Today report.

"I want to give a message to those married women in society that if anything wrong happens to them at their in-laws' house, they should not be afraid. Show them that you can stand on your own feet. Women can do anything they want. If you study well and work hard, you can become an IAS," Shivangi said while recalling her experience and how she overcame it.

She said that she wanted to become an IAS even before marriage.

She also attempted twice but failed both times. Then she got married.

As she experienced domestic violence by her in-laws, she returned to her maternal home with her seven-year-old daughter.

"Papa said that whatever you want to do, do it," Shivangi said, adding, "I thought why not prepare for UPSC again."

Shivang said that she had been dreaming of this day since childhood. After hard work and dedication, finally, that day has come.

She credits her success to her parents and daughter Raina. Shivangi is a resident of Hapur. Her father, Rajesh Goyal, is a businessman and her mother is a homemaker.

Shivangi said that when she was in school, her principal had asked her to prepare for UPSC.

Since then, it was her dream to become an IAS. To clear UPSC, she did self-study and her subject was sociology.
