Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Mumbai
The Bandra–Worli Sea Link is an eight-lane bridge, the first infrastructure project in Mumbai to use seismic arresters, that helps it to withstand earthquakes measuring up to 7.0 on the Richter scale. It was named after Rajiv Gandhi, a former Prime Minister of India.
Chenab Bridge
Chenab Bridge is the world's highest railway bridge which is 35 meters taller than Eiffel Tower. Its length is 1,315 metres with 17 spans, of which the span of the main arch across Chenab River will be 467 metres. The bridge is 359 metres above Chenab’s river bed.
Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project
The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is the largest in the world and one of Asia’s greatest-ever infrastructure investments, costing Rs. 1.2 lakh crore. The project was started in 2016 and got completed in 2019.
Pamban Bridge
This railway bridge floats between Tamil Nadu’s mainland and the southward island of Rameswaram. Cyclone threats and the world’s second-most corrosive coastal environment made this bridge a great challenge for engineers. It features a picturesque ‘Bascule’ style lifting section, which allows ships to pass through.
P. V. Narasimha Rao Expressway
The ‘PVNR Expressway’, a Rs 500 crore project forms a major lifeline for Hyderabad’s economic centres. This is the longest flyover ever constructed in India that took four years to complete. It was named after ‘India’s Father of Economic Reforms’.
Pir Panjal Tunnel
This railway tunnel is the longest one in India at over 11 kilometres, which takes 9-and-a-half minutes to cross. It was the first time India had ever used the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) to construct a railway tunnel - using the Pir Panjal mountain range’s unique geological structures to keep the tunnel strong.
Statue of Unity
Statue of Unity is built on the river island called Sadhu Bet near Vadodara. It is said to be the tallest in the world with a height of 182 metres. The statue was built in memory of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
