Led India to U-19 WC Win
Kohli captained India Under-19s to victory at the 2008 World Cup in Malaysia. After a few months later, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka as a 19-year-old.
A century on World Cup debut
Kohli made his World Cup debut during India’s clash with Bangladesh at the 2011 World Cup, where he became the first Indian batsman to score a century on his maiden WC appearance.
Tendulkar to Kohli, the bat has been passed
“Sachin Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years. It was time we carried him. Chak de, India!” Kohli said after India won the 2011 World Cup. Kohli was tipped to fill in Tendulkar’s shoes and the 32-year-old has justified the expectations and faith shown in him by an entire cricket-crazy country.

In the list of most international runs in the career, Kohli (21,901 runs) is third after Tendulkar (34,357 runs) and Rahul Dravid (24,208 runs) among Indian batsmen.

Kept his promise
During the 2016 Asia Cup, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir asked Kohli for a bat, who then promised the Pakistan player to give him one in India. A few weeks later, the T20 World Cup took place in India, where Kohli keeping his word, gave Amir his bat ahead of the India v Pakistan game.
