The two put up 62 runs for the sixth wicket. Vihari scored an unbeaten 23 off 161 balls, while Ashwin chipped in with 39 not out from 128 deliveries. They also faced 256 balls – only four times in Test history has a sixth wicket pair faced more balls in a non-defeat scenario.

India batted 131 overs in the fourth innings in the SCG Test – they did the same in 1979 against Pakistan in Delhi.
