11 players to pull out of IPL 2021 due to injury, COVID-19 crisis in India

Mitchell Marsh
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Mitchell Marsh pulled out of IPL 2021 even before the tournament began due to bio-bubble fatigue. SRH named Jason Roy as Marsh’s replacement.
Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood also pulled out of the IPL 2021 because of the bio-bubble fatigue. Hazlewood would have been a great option for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this season, considering the majority of their games are at the Wankhede, Mumbai. CSK named his compatriot Jason Beherendoff a replacement.
Josh Phillipe
Josh Phillipe was the third Australian to pull out even before the tournament went underway on April 9. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player decided to not participate due to “personal reasons.” He was replaced by New Zealand’s ‘keeper-batsman Finn Allen.
Shreyas Iyer
The Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper has missed out on the IPL 2021 due to a shoulder injury. He underwent surgery on April 8, a day before the start of IPL 2021. In his absence, Rishabh Pant is leading Delhi.
Jofra Archer
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler Jofra Archer won’t be a part of the IPL 2021 because of a finger injury he sustained in January. Although Archer has returned to training post his surgery, the ECB has decided against Archer’s IPL participation.
Ben Stokes
RR suffered a major blow following a loss in their IPL 2021 campaign opener as their key all-rounder Ben Stokes suffered a fracture on his index finger and was ruled out of the tournament. He sustained the injury when he dove to take Chris Gayle’s catch.
Liam Livingstone
RR have suffered several setbacks in the ongoing campaign, especially in their overseas department. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone decided to fly back home in the middle of the IPL 2021 due to bio-bubble fatigue.
Andrew Tye
Australian bowler Andrew Tye was the latest RR player to leave midway as he feared getting “locked out” of his own country amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in India. Following Tye’s departure, RR are now left with just four overseas options: David Miller, Jos Buttler, Mustafizur Rahman, and Chris Morris.
Adam Zampa
RCB on Monday (April 26) broke the news that their spinner Adam Zampa has decided to fly back home due to “personal reasons.”
Kane Richardson
Along with Zampa, his RCB and Aussie teammate, Kane Richardson has also left the RCB bubble midway to return to his country.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Delhi Capitals (DC) senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has decided to take a break from IPL 2021 to spend more time with his family and help them deal with the whole COVID-19 situation. He, however, said that if things went in the right direction, he could return to the DC camp later during the tournament’s later stages.
