India vs West Indies
India and West Indies are set to play a three-match ODI series, starting Sunday (Feb. 6) in Ahmedabad.
Indian players test COVID positive
The Indian team reached Ahmedabad earlier this week and now a few home players have tested positive and have gone into isolation in their team hotel.
RT-PCR tests
The Indian cricket board conducted RT-PCR tests on Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 2, as per The Indian Express.
Players who have tested positive
The report has claimed that Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Navdeep Saini have returned with positive results.
Multiple tests
Saini, who is among the reserves for the series against West Indies, tested positive, along with Dhawan, after the first test. Ruturaj and Shreyas were found infected in the second and third tests respectively.
Will BCCI name replacements?
There is no clarity if the BCCI will name replacements as yet ahead of the three-match ODI series.
Venues
Earlier BCCI had picked Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram as the venues for the ODI and T20I series. However, the board reduced the venues and allotted the ODIs to Ahmedabad and the T20Is to Kolkata to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection among the camp.
ODI series
The ODI series in Ahmedabad will be played behind closed doors due to the Omicron threat in the country at the moment.
