IPL 2021: Kohli, Padikkal enter record books as RCB register 4th consecutive victory

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 10 wickets to register their fourth consecutive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

RCB opener Padikkal scored a match-winning 52-ball 101, which was his second T20 hundred. He hit 6 sixes and 11 fours as he broke into the top-3 on the list of the youngest centurions in the IPL.

Current SRH batsman Manish Pandey holds the record for scoring a ton at 19 years and 253 days, which he had scored against Deccan Chargers while playing for RCB in 2009. Rishabh Pant is in second place (20 years and 218 days), ahead of Padikkal (20 years and 289 days).

Padikkal’s century on Thursday also put RCB on top of the list of teams with the most centuries in the IPL. RCB now have 14 centuries in total followed by Punjab Kings (13) and Delhi Capitals (10).

RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 72 off 47 balls on Thursday, became the first player to complete 6,000 runs in the IPL. He achieved the milestone when he scored his 51st run in his knock against RR. Kohli: 6,021 runs in 196 matches at 38.35, including 5 centuries and 40 fifties.
