IPL 2021: Lot of Yuvraj Singh in this KKR batsman, says Parthiv Patel

The IPL games between KKR and MI have been very one-sided over the years. MI went into the match on Thursday with a massive lead of 22-5 in the head to head in the competition.

After restricting MI at 155 for 6 in 20 overs, KKR successfully chased that down with 7 wickets and 4.5 overs to spare in Abu Dhabi.

It was KKR’s only third win over MI in as many as 15 meetings in the IPL.

During the chase of 156 runs, KKR openers Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer, put up a 40-run stand.

Iyer, who was playing his second IPL match, registered his maiden half-century. He also shared a crucial 88-run partnership with Rahul Tripathi for the second wicket.

En route his first-ever IPL fifty, Iyer struck four fours and three sixes. He took only 25 balls to reach the 50-run mark.

“One of the great things about him, having seen him, he can not only open, but he can also bat from 1 to 9 and bowl as well. So he will have a great future. I think there is a lot of Yuvraj Singh in him. There is a lot of flow," Parthiv Patel said on Star Sports.

“He has got swag. He is very cool, calm and collected. He doesn’t show a lot of emotions. The first ball against Boult and Milne was hit for six. When a spinner comes on, the helmet comes off. He is flicking that hair back. The boy has got swag and talent. I love the way he goes about his cricket,” Graeme Swann said on the post-match show on Thursday (Sept. 23).

However, it was West Indies spinner Sunil Narine, who was named the Player of the Match for his figures of 1 for 20 in 4 overs and he also took a catch.
