Suryakumar Yadav, Prasidh Krishna earn maiden call-ups as India announce squad for England ODI series

India and England are set to lock horns in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, starting from March 23. All the ODIs will be played in Pune.
New faces in India squad
Krunal Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Prasidh Krishna have been included in India’s 18-man squad and could make their ODI debut in the upcoming series.
Jadeja missing
Injured Ravindra Jadeja is still recovering and in his absence, Baroda all-rounder Krunal has been included. Krunal recently struck 2 unbeaten tons and 2 fifties for Baroda in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Shaw, Padikkal miss the cut
Despite performing excellently at the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal did not make the squad as India already have enough opening options.
Indian openers
Rohit Sharma, who missed the Australia series due to injury, has returned to the ODIs, while the other openers are Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul.
Bhuvi returns
After a long injury lay-off, Bhuvneshwar Kumar recently returned to international cricket in the ongoing T20I series vs ENG. He has also been included in the ODI squad.
No Bumrah, Natarajan returns
Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently out on personal break, has not been included. Natarajan returns after missing the first four T20Is vs England. The other pacers are Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur.
Spin options
India’s spin options include Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sudar and Krunal. Kuldeep has not received many opportunities in recent times. In the limited-overs leg Down Under, Kuldeep was given just one game.
